“Rocky” Lionel E. Sentell, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 69. He was a lifelong resident of both Biloxi and Ocean Springs, Mississippi, he was known for his larger-than-life presence, his fierce loyalty, and his unshakable integrity. Born on July 4, 1955, at Biloxi Hospital on front beach, Rocky’s arrival into the world was as unforgettable as the man he would become—marked by fireworks in the sky and a fiery spirit that would burn bright throughout his life.

Rocky was a proud 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 903. Rocky worked as an electrician, traveling throughout the U.S. but was always eager to return to his cherished home on the Coast. He was an active member of the Biloxi Elks Lodge #606, where he had served as a past Exalted Ruler. There, he initiated a program to provide local schools with dictionaries for third-grade students.

He shared 51 wonderful years with his wife, Sherri Little Sentell. Together, they raised two daughters, Christen Sentell and Sarah Sentell.

Rocky’s legacy lives on through his wife, Sherri; his daughters, Christen Sentell (Christian Mejica) and Sarah Sentell (Rino Guerrero); his grandchildren, Reese Mejica, Clara Guerrero, Reid Guerrero, and Maia Guerrero; his siblings, Gina and Richard Kostal, Randy and Ellen Sentell; In-laws, Roberta and Jack Brink, Don and Ellen Little; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elinor and Lionel Edward Sentell, Sr.; and his brother, Russell “Rusty” Milles Sentell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 pm on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Nativity BVM Cathedral. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rocky’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
