Lloyd Freeman Elrod, 72, of Gulfport, died Friday, April 22, 2005 in Biloxi.
Mr. Elrod was a long time resident of Gulfport. He retired from U.S. Navy in 1982 after 21 years of service and prior to that he served in U.S. Army for 10 years. He was an avid Nascar fan and a wonderful husband, father, and "Pa". Mr. Elrod was a Baptist.
Mr. Elrod was preceded in death by his parents Stanton and Vola Elrod.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years Evangeline King Elrod, 2 daughters, Anita Carter (Don), Angelina Turner (Gary) all of Gulfport, 3 sons, John Elrod (Beth) of Saucier, Brandon Elrod, James Elrod both of Gulfport, sister Vallie Stevens (Steve) of Nashville, TN, brother Cordell Elrod (Kay) of Cookville, TN, sisters-in-law, Reba Elrod of Columbus, GA, Sybil Jenkins of Roanoke, AL aunts, Vera Cumby of Cookville, TN, Lura Key of Detroit, MI, best friend Ed Smith of Cookville, TN and 6 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Orange Grove Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road in Gulfport. A service will be 12:30 PM, Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
