Lois Ailene Gandy, 90, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in D’Iberville, MS. Lois was born on January 03, 1928 in Seminole, OK to Alfred and June Elmore. From there the family moved to Kilgore, TX where Lois graduated from Kilgore High School and attended Kilgore Jr. College. In 1945, she met and married her husband of sixty years, William ‘Bill’ Gandy. In 1960, the family moved to Mississippi where Lois worked as a bookkeeper at Luckies Furniture Store, which was owned by her brother, Alfred Elmore, Jr. In later years, Lois and Bill also provided tour services to the Creek Bingo Palace in Ardmore, AL. Lois was actively involved with St. Martin’s Lioness Club. She was installed as president of the St. Martin Lioness Club, the first Lioness Club in the state, to receive a charter from Lions International. She was also active in Eastern Star – Ann Grayson Chapter in Biloxi for over fifty years, serving several years as Matron. For many years, she was active in the North Bay Senior Citizens. Lois enjoyed creating handcrafted projects and was an avid Atlanta Braves and New Orleans Saints fan. Lois is predeceased by her parents, Alfred Leo Elmore, Sr. and June Elizabeth Morgan Elmore; stepfather, George Reese; husband, William “Bill” Gandy; son, Michael Dennis Gandy; daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Morgan and her brother, Alfred Elmore, Jr. Lois is survived by her son, David Gandy of D’Iberville, MS; her caregiver and longtime family friend, Ronald McBride of D’Iberville, MS. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Elmore and his wife Donnie; sister, Rosella and her husband Jerry Hooton, who all currently live in Longview, TX; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Special gratitude for their years of loving care and consideration to grandson, Lucas Morgan and longtime friend, Jo Ann Tarrant. Thanks to the personnel of Hospice of Light for making her last weeks comfortable. Lois was a longtime member of Big Ridge Baptist Church and In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 3230 Big Ridge Road, D’Iberville, MS 39540 Funeral services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
