Lorene “Mac” Seymour, 92, of Biloxi, ended her earthly journey on November 14, 2015. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Mac was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, on March 4, 1923. Mac was the youngest of seven of the McAdory family. She was cherished by many nieces and nephews.
After finishing Business College, Mac moved to Biloxi and began work at Keesler Air Force Base. She continued her career there as a court reporter and legal secretary until her retirement in 1983.
In 1947, she married Walter Seymour. They were lifelong members of the Biloxi Yacht Club where Walter loved to sail and Mac played bridge and was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary. They were often seen sailing on their beloved catboat, The Mama Bee. After their retirement they enjoyed traveling, where some of their favorite places included London, England and Alaska. They were married 43 wonderful years.
Mac was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Biloxi. She was active socially with several Mardi Gras organizations in Biloxi. She was Queen of Bilikins in 1958 and Mithras Queen in 1985. She was also a member of Les Masque’ for many years. Mac’s doors were always open to friends young and old - from high school sleepovers to Christmas Eve gatherings. She would want to be remembered for her warm smile and inviting nature.
Mac was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by: daughter Jan and son-in-law Bill Hibberts of Dauphin Island, Alabama; daughter Kay Seymour McMurray of Biloxi; and, daughter Gail and son-in-law Chris Ott of Naples, Florida. She had six grandchildren: Stephanie Dove Norris, Ashley Dove Bryson, Adam Hibberts, Grant Hibberts, Gage Ott, and Ford Ott. She also had five great-grandchildren: Maddie, Lily, Walt, Beau, and Helen.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Ave., Biloxi on Thursday, November 19, 2015 with visitation from 10:30-12:00. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The First Baptist Church of Biloxi Home-bound Ministry or Notre Dame Hospice.
