Loring John Smith, Sr.

Loring John Smith, Sr., 85, of Ocean Springs, MS went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Brother Loring served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, retiring in 1974 as a SMSgt. After retirement from the military, he taught History in the Ocean Springs School System for 7 years. He later taught office skills at the Job Corps in Gulfport. Brother Loring also taught Sunday school for many years at Springhill Baptist Church. Brother Loring loved nothing better than being with his beloved family and friends. His spirit continues to inspire us all from Heaven where he lives with God forever. Brother Loring is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Cochran and Gordon Smith; his wife, Barbara; his sons, Jeff and James; and his grandchildren, Johnny, Barbara and Francis. Brother Loring’s survivors include his sister, Virginia Burt; his daughters, Carol (Kim) Kilpatrick and Marian Smith; his son, John (Martha) Smith; his grandchildren, Micah, Sonia, Rosemary, Adam, Jason, Emily, Angela, Adrianne, Amanda, Brandon, Jeni, Randy, Carolyn and Gracie; and many great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 7:00 pm. Friends may visit from 5:00 pm until service time. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 9:00 am.
