Louis Barron, Jr.

Mr. Louis Barron, Jr., 82, of Gulfport, MS, died Monday, January 9, 2006, in Biloxi. Mr. Barron was a native of Brownsville, Texas and had been a longtime resident of the coast. He was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with the U. S. Air Force after 32 years of service, of which time he served in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 2539 in Gulfport, Joe Graham Post 119 of the American Legion, member and treasurer of the Retired Enlisted Association in Washington, D.C., the National AARP, the MS Coast Organist Association, MS Gulf Coast Jazz Society, a Coast Guard Auxilary Safe Boating inspector, and instructor in safe boating and a member of the D.A.V. Post in Gulfport. Mr. Barron was a graduate of Jefferson Davis Jr. College with an Associates of Science Degree, attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated from William Carey College in Gulfport with a B.S. degree. He was a member of the President's List and Honor Society at William Carey and a member of William Carey Alumni. Mr. Barron was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Barron, Sr. and Angelita Lozano Barron and a brother, Richard Barron. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vera Neaves Barron, of Gulfport; a daughter, Jacqueline Salsman, of Simi Valleyl, CA; one son, David Barron, of Columbus, MS; three sisters, Bertha Lopez Alice Perez and her husband, John, and Lucy Carmona and her husband, Susano, all of Brownsville, Texas; four brothers, Alfredo Barron, Dr. Ramiro Barron, Daniel Barron all of Brownsville, Texas, and Robert Barron of San Antonio, Texas, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
