Louise Smith Fletcher

Louise Smith Fletcher, 87, of Ocean Springs passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023.  Louise was born April 9, 1936 in Prentiss, MS to Thomas J. Smith and Addie Magnolia Long.

Louise was a longtime resident of Sylvester, GA. She graduated from Norman Park High School.  She volunteered at Palmyra Park Hospital in Georgia and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Acree, GA. Louise worked as the civil service inventory manager with the Marine Corps. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and traveling. She had a special love for Hawaii and made many trips there.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Smith and Addie Magnolia Long; husband, James Monroe Fletcher; siblings, Paul B. Smith, Thomas J. Smith, Ed Smith, Howard J. Smith, James Smith, Charles N. Smith, Margaret Dunn, and Eva Pearl Lacey.

Survivors include her children, Carla McDaniel, James M. Fletcher Jr., and Jan (Shane) Robinson; grandchildren, Matthew (Diana) McDaniel; Marcy (Matthew) Warning, Addie Fletcher, and Olivia Kimble; great-grandchildren, Shane Warning, Rylie Warning, Emma McDaniel, and Thomas McDaniel; and siblings, Carl Smith, Henry Q. Smith, Joe Smith, John W. Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 1 pm at Baker Funeral Home in Moultrie, GA. Friends are invited to visit two hours prior. Interment will follow at Crosland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Lighthouse Memory Care and Hospice of Light.
