Lourene "Lou" Wilks Duncan Lou entered into her Heavenly Home Friday April 18th, 2008 to hear her Savior's welcoming sound, "Enter, my blessed child, to inherit the Kingdom that I have prepared for you from the foundation of the earth." Lou was a resident of Gulfport since 1958. Lourene Wilks was born to Charles Raynor Wilks and Lula Magee Wilks on May 16th 1926 in Columbia, MS. Upon graduation from Bunker Hill High School, she moved to Jackson to enter business college. Upon graduation there, she worked at Mississippi State University as a secretary for several professors in the Forestry Dept. Later she was a bookkeeper for a firm in Columbia. Moving to Jackson, she worked at The Vogue. Upon moving to the coast, she enjoyed being a fashion consultant in sales with Godchaux's and Gayfer's assisting, Miss Mississippi, Mary Ann Mobley, Mrs. Martin Luther King and other dignitaries who relied upon her excellent fashion advice. She was preceded in death by her beloved and devoted husband, John Chandler Duncan and one sister, Mrs. Alene Weeks. She is survived by her two daughters: Jean Celeste McInnis, Chanda Susan Beard(Jackie), and three grandchildren, Vanessa Autumn Vincent, Jacob Chandler and Kyle Jackson Beard, all of Gulfport, and one brother, Charles Raynor Wilks of Hattiesburg. Her most cherished legacy to be treasured by her family and her dear friends was her deep abiding faith in the Lord. The blessing of her daily walk in God's faithfulness was inspirational to all who knew her. As a faithful servant she taught Children's Sunday School for twenty years. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 11:00A.M. with a Memorial Service at noon at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street Gulfport. Memorials may be made to Pass Road Baptist Church, 208 Pass Rd. Gulfport, MS 39507
