She was born on July 24, 1919, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Grayce Myrtle Weaver Evans and John Louis Theodore Evans. She had been a resident of Ocean Springs, MS., since 1996 and lived in Gulfport, MS. from 1957 to 1959. Loys traveled around the world as an army officer's wife, having lived overseas in Iwo Jima, Guam, Alaska and Germany. In the USA she lived in Kansas, Colorado, California, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Alabama, New Mexico and Mississippi. Loys enjoyed traveling to many countries in Europe, and she and her husband took a special vacation trip to Australia. Loys Berger was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, was a Past President and life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was a member of La Boutique des Huit Chapeaux et Quarante Femmes and was in the Reserve Officers Association Ladies Clubs. Her favorite things to watch on television were the Lawrence Welk Show, the Kentucky Derby and baseball games, especially the World Series. Another one of her pleasures was keeping up correspondence with her family and friends. The memories of the Ottawa High School reunions that she attended always remained with her. Loys liked dancing, playing the piano, card parties and most of all attending church events. She attended Woodhaven Baptist Church in Ocean Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 58 years, Capt. Merton M. Berger (Retired U.S. Army). Survivors include her daughter, Anne Carolyn and husband, William E.
