Lt. Col. Robert C. "Bob" Crawford, (US Army Ret.), age 74, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in Gulfport. He was born in Danville, VA and had been a resident of Long Beach for about eleven years.
He attended St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1980 as a Lt. Col. after twenty years of service. After retiring, he worked for Vinnell Corporation in Saudi Arabia for ten years and he also volunteered with Odyssey Hospice of the Gulf Coast.
Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carmita Crawford; two daughters, Christine (Mark) Riley of Gautier/Pascagoula; and Laura Watson of Westville, OK; a son, Robert Daniel Crawford of New Orleans, LA seven grandchildren, Ashton Gleghorn, Jordan Morrison, Alyson Morrison, Robert Watson, Branden Watson, Emily Riley, and Josie Riley; and one great granddaughter, Bailey Jones.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 4 until 6:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 14, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery with Army military honors.
