Lucille F. Smith, age 85, of Diamondhead, died Saturday, October 6, 2007 in Gulfport. Mrs. Smith was a native of New Orleans and was a long time resident of Diamondhead, She was a homemaker and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. She was Queen of the Woodland Village Mardi Gras Krewe for two years and was active in numerous activities at the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Henry M. Smith; her parents, Reese and Lucille Cottingham; a sister, Doris Buckner; and two brothers, James F. Cottingham and Eugene D. Cottingham.
She is survived by five daughters, Patricia Ann Myers of Diamondhead, Carolyn C. Dennis of California, Barbara M. Hermann of Diamondhead, Helen A. Omes of Slidell, LA; and Bonnie L. Whittington of Wiggins; a son, Douglas M. Smith of Picayune; two sisters, Irma Wilson of Lafayette, LA, and Mary Ann Picard of Slidell; thirteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Kiln where friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi.
