Mrs. Lucille Lou Young, age 92, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019.
Lou was born in Bay St. Louis, MS and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Bay St. Louis. After graduating from high school she moved to Ocean Springs to live with her sister, Catherine. There she formed many lifelong friendships. She was one of the original founders of the Duchess Club of Ocean Springs. She helped in her sons' flower shop (Chez Charles Florist) for many years. She was known by many as Mrs. Lou and by her grandchildren as Maw Maw Lou. She was always there for her children and grandchildren.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Alan Young, son, AlsonYoung, parents, Tony and Mary Benvenutti, sisters, Catherine Kersanac Steele (Joe and Bill), Mary Monti (T.F.), Alice Blanco, (Danny), Anna Blaize (Les) and Helen Benvenutti and brothers, Anthony Jr. Benvenutti (Naomi) and Peter (Betty) Benvenutti.
Survivors include (2) daughters, Carolyn (Mickey) McGee of Sugar Land, TX and Linda (Joel) Gregory of Ocean Springs, MS, son, Charles Young (partner, Terry Harrington), of Ocean Springs, MS, daughter-in-law, Roberta Hathaway Young of Hermitage, TN, sister, Betty Evans of Conroe, TX, grandchildren, Angela Young Proffitt, Ashley (Randy) Vickers, Robert (Marquie) Young, Mitch (Melinda) McGee, Matt (Jessica) McGee, Coby (Lauren) McGee, Courtney (Sean) Gregory Collier, Caitlin Gregory, Crystal Gregory and Justin Griffin and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Maggie Kate, Caroline and Knoxx Vickers, Madison and Mitchell McGee, Charlotte McGee and Cristal.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 20, from 10:30am until 12:30 pm, with a 12:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial, all at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Susie Moran and Ruth Waites, to Hospice of Light, Donna and Nicki and special thanks to Gayle Ann, Christy, Faye, Kerri and Savannah.
