Lucy D. Bleichner, aka Mom, the Big Cheese, and Lead Foot Lu, of Biloxi, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 83 years young in Gulfport.
She was born on August 4, 1940 in Louisiana. Lucy was a mother of 5 and was voted mother of the year in 1982. She was Queen of Mardi Gras Gabriel Manor in 2023. Lucy was a vet tech at Biloxi Animal Hospital, Pet Gallery owner in Long Beach, and was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul. She loved the Saints and Who Dat Nation, LSU, and anything Louisiana. Lucy also loved to garden away with her hands dirty and spending time with her grandkids.
Lucy loved to travel, especially international. As the “Big Cheese”, she was a fearless Girl Scout leader for all 3 of her daughters and touched the lives of many along the way. She loved enjoying life with her friends and family, and laughing most of all.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Kenneth C. Bleichner; daughter, Barbara A. Sheppard; son, David P. Bleichner; brothers, Henry J. Davis and Robert W. Davis; and her beloved pet, Daisy.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda A. Herrin and Elizabeth R. Bleichner; son, Henry “Hank” J. Bleichner; grandchildren, Tyler Scifres, Ricky Sheppard, William Herrin, Tommy Sheppard, Breanne Herrin, Beyla Bleichner, and Kenna Bleichner; and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Alex Herrin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Friends may visit one hour prior to Mass. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with a reception to follow at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall.
