Mrs. Lula Moore, 93 of Vancleave, was called to her heavenly home to join her husband, William Moore and son, Gerald Moore on Sunday, July 3, 2011. Mrs. Moore was born March 16, 1918 in Vancleave, MS. and was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Vancleave, making her profession of faith at the age of 13. She was very active in her younger years as church clerk for 20 years, teaching Sunday school, WMU Director and singing in the choir. She enjoyed writing Easter and Christmas programs, and decorating for special events. Mrs Moore retired from the Jackson County School District, Vancleave High School cafeteria as manager for 26 years. She enjoyed living in Vancleave all of her life, graduating from high school and receiving the first letterman sports jacket in basketball and track, which is displayed in the Vancleave High School Gym foyer. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Ann Moore Ruffin and husband John, of Vancleave. Also are grandchildren, John William Ruffin (Suzi), David Mark Ruffin (Leslie) of Vancleave; Matthew Steven Ruffin (Hollie), of Ocean Springs, Courtney Lashelle Moore and Crystal Gale Moore all of Vancleave, Great-grandchildren; John Brandon Ruffin (Samantha), Madison Marie Ruffin, Davis Matthew Ruffin, Taylor Anne Ruffin, Leeann Perrone (John), Stephaine Reynell Sharp, Thomas Forrest Sharp, great-great grandchildren, Leia and Clarence Perrone. Mrs. Moore is also survived by a brother, Henry W. Davis, Vancleave and a sister, Kathryn Davis Campbell, Jonesville, LA. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, July 6, at First Baptist Church of Vancleave with visitation from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Vancleave #1 Cemetery, Jim Ramsey Road. Special thanks go to Mrs Moore's loving and attentive caregivers past and present; Elaine Burnham, Kathy Bang, Ruby Tanner, Irene Fairley and Wanda Barnes. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to First Baptist Church, Vancleave, MS.. 39565 or The Gideons International, Gautier/Vancleave Camp, P.O. Box 741, Gautier, MS. 39553-0741. Pallbearers are grandsons and great-grandsons of Mrs. Moore. Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS.
