Lurell P. Mixon, age 88, of Long Beach, died Friday, August 14, 2009 in Gulfport. She was born in Neely, Ms and was a former 35 year resident of Leakesville where she was a waitress at Williams Café. She had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for 26 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Long Beach.
Mrs. Mixon was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leona Pipkin; a son, Bobby E. Mixon; and two brothers, Randolph Mixon and Devan Mixon.
She is survived by a daughter, Christa Heald of Long Beach; special family members, Joyce Douglas of Neely, Elizabeth Strong of Frankfurt, KY, Terrie Douglas and her daughters, Chelsey, Jordan, and Michaela of Long Beach, Kela Douglas of Pearl; and special friends, Dorothy and Gary Miller of Gulfport, and Mary Walley of Long Beach.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, 2009, from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The funeral service is Wednesday, August 19, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Long Beach. Interment will be in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Greene County.
