Mrs. Lurline Manuel Battaya, 84, of D'Iberville, MS, died Friday, April 1, 2011, in D'Iberville.
Mrs. Battaya was born in Biloxi and remained a lifelong resident of the coast. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Preceeding Mrs. Battaya in death was her husband, Elvin Joseph Battaya; parents, Henry Manuel, Sr. and Aline Eleuterius Manuel; sister, Ila Mae Bertucci; and brothers, Sherwood Manuel, Henry Manuel, Jr., Oliver Manuel, Harold Manuel and Glen Manuel.
She is survived by her sons, Elvin J. (Yvonne) Battaya, Jr. of Latimer, Nello F. (Jo Ann) Battaya of Woolmarket, and Carey A. (Cindy) Battaya of St. Martin; sisters, Ellen Harrison of Livermore, CA, Emily Gilmore of Gulfport and Aline Humphrey of Latimer; four grandchildren, Yvette Dahm, Darnell Schreck, Connie Husley and Elvin Battaya, III; and ten great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Greenbriar Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice for the care and attention they provided Mrs. Battaya.
Visitation is Monday, April 4, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at D'Iberville Memorial Park.
