Lyle Sidney Gillis

Minister Lyle Sidney Gillis, age 55, of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away January 2, 2009. He was born November 5, 1953 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Columbus and Bobbie Murphy Gillis. Mr. Gillis was Church of Christ by faith. He was a minister of the gospel for 30 years. He was a graduate with honors from Walton High School and received a commission to the United States Coast Guard Academy. He was a member of “Who’s Who in America” and received his Masters Degree from Alabama School of Religion. He also played college baseball and basketball. Mr. Gillis is survived by his parents Columbus and Bobbie Gillis of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; his loving wife of 15 years Carolyn Gillis of Biloxi, Mississippi; two daughters Caron Charee Turner of Biloxi, Mississippi and Hallie Sara Turner of Gainsville, Florida; two sons David Addison Gillis and wife Kathleen of Las Vegas and Sheridan Cary Gillis of Montgomery, Alabama; and one sister Beverly Tillery of Destin, Florida. On Sunday, January 4, 2009, there will be a 2 PM Memorial Service at the Rodenberg Church of Christ in Biloxi, Mississippi. On Monday, January 5, 2009, a time of visitation will be held from 1:00~3:00 PM, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Avenue,DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 5, 2009 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Floral arrangements are being accepted.
