M/Sgt. Jasper E. Pinson, beloved husband and father, age 84, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2012 in Biloxi, MS.
Jasper was born in Forest City, NC on April 7, 1927. He was the son of Lawrence Pinson and Alma Greene. He served his country for 31 years, briefly in the Army, and then in the Air Force. He retired and then worked for the VA in Biloxi, MS for many years, retired from the VA and then volunteered for the VA in Biloxi for 18 years as Masonic Services Representative. He was dedicated to the Shriners Children's Hospital, and served as Hospital Chairman for Joppa Temple in Woolmarket, MS for many years.
Jasper was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethleen.
He is survived by daughter, Bobbie Montgomery of Ocean Springs, MS; grandson, Benjamin of Goodwater, AL; and sister, Rachel Gordon of Forest City, NC; as well as a large extended family of nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, all living in the western NC area.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Ocean Springs Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Following Monday's visitation, Mr. Pinson's remains will be shipped to Forest City, NC where there will be another visitation held Wednesday evening, January 11, 2012 with a 12:00 noon service on Thursday, January 12, 2012 all at the Padgett and King Funeral Home in Forest City, NC. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
