Mrs. Mabelle Wescovich Lamey, age 81, of the Latimer Community, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011, in Latimer.
Mrs. Lamey was a lifelong resident of the community. She was born on May 21, 1929, in Jackson County, MS. She graduated from St. Martin High School in 1947 and was Valedictorian of her class. She worked a short time before marrying at the First National Bank of Biloxi. Mrs. Lamey was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Latimer, where she was baptized on October 13, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, D.W. Lamey, parents, Joseph and Bertha DeLancey Wescovich, and brothers, Wayne Wescovich and Leroy Wescovich.
Survivors include a daughter, Julia Bernita "Nita" Lamey, three sons, Donnie (Julie) Lamey, Terry (Gina) Lamey and Royce (Gail) Lamey, seven grandchildren, Katherine, Darren, Kevin, Justin, Brittany, Clint and Stephen, great-grandchild, Kylie Morace, daughters-in-law, Rita Lamey and Darlene Johnson, sisters-in-law, Ella Wescovich, Marion Lamey and Barbara Lamey, and special caregivers, Debra Schonewitz and Denise Morris.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 10, 2011, from 6 pm until 9 pm, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Tuesday, January 11, 2011, there will be an 11 am chapel service in the funeral home where friends may visit from 10 am ~ 11 am.. Burial will follow in Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Latimer.
