Maggie Mae McCall-Ward

Maggie M. Ward, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at her home in Gulfport, MS.

Born in Greenwood, MS on April 10, 1941, Ms. Ward graduated from Broadstreet High School. She later graduated from Tougaloo College in 1977, where she received her BA (cum Laude) in Early Childhood Development and a minor in Mathematics. Ms. Ward went on to work and teach in the Harrison County and Gulfport City Schools for 34 years, with an additional 7 years dedicated to teaching an after-school tutoring program.

Ms. Ward was an alumni member of Tougaloo College, Heroine of Jerico, Gulfport Court #45 and Northend Court 495B, 16^th district, and Mother Mary of the Heroines of Jerico.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Sr. and Mattie McCall; her devoted husband of 60 years, Clarence Ward, Jr.; daughter, Angela Ward-Moss; stepdaughter, Patricia “Faye” Selph; one great-grandson, Meko Nelson; one God son, Ozell Addison, Jr.; one twin sister, Mattie McCall; five brothers, Allen McCall, Samuel McCall, Neal McCall, Sr., Hosie McCall, and Lawrence McCall.

Ms. Ward leaves to cherish her precious memories, one son, Cedric B. Ward (Didgrie) of Gulfport; one stepson, Glenn Elliot (Wanda) of Memphis, TN; her devoted baby girl, Clarissa Ward-Ratcliff of Gulfport; one God Daughter, Alisa Banks-Welsh of Baton Rouge, LA; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a host of well-loved nephews, nieces, and relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Progressive Baptist Church, 3113 20^th Street, Gulfport, MS, with a viewing starting at 10:00 a.m. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Ward family.
