Major Hollis Calton Tinsler, USAF, Retired

Major Hollis Calton Tinsler, USAF, retired, 79, of Biloxi passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010. Hollis was born June 30, 1930 in Bowdil, Ohio. He was a retired Major (Vietnam Veteran) from the US Air Force after 23 years of service. Major Tinsler was a highly decorated veteran. He received 12 awards, including the Bronze Star, Air Force Accomodation Medal and the Air Force Training Command Badge. Hollis was an accounting graduate of the University of Southern MS and the retired owner of Tinsler Tax Service, Enrolled Agent. He had been a 13 year myeloma cancer survivor. He is preceded in death by his mother, Alice Gerhart Tinsler; father, Howard Tinsler; step-mother, Audra Tinsler Blough; grandson, Joseph Upshaw and many aunts and uncles. Hollis is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dorothy Smith Tinsler; son, Danny Tinsler and daughters, Susan (Harold Corbin) Tinsler and Debra (Pat) Upshaw; grandchildren, Melanie (David) Baze, John (Tara) Upshaw, Brian (Dawn) Upshaw and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Both will be held at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, West Biloxi. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
