Marcella Grace Covacevich

Marcella Grace Covacevich, 90, of Biloxi, MS went home to the Lord on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Marcella was born in Pittsburg, PA to Augustine Peter Germanis and Mae Bourgeois Germanis and moved to Biloxi in 1939.

She met her future husband, Edward Jack “Chizzy” Covacevich in 1946 at the old Notre Dame High School. The young couple dated “on and off” for 2 years which led to 70 years of Sacramental Love being married on September 14, 1952 at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church. The couple received a Papal Blessing on their marriage from Pope John Paul II in 2001.

Marcella was a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where she was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Legion of Mary and the Bereavement Committee. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and brought Communion to the homebound. Marcella had a great love for Jesus and Mary and lived it by attending daily Mass and praying the Rosary with great devotion.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Emily; and her brother, Louis Germanis.

Marcella’s survivors include her husband, Edward Jack “Chizzy” Covacevich; her sons, Kevin L. (Sonja) Covacevich, Kenneth F. Covacevich, and David J. (Christine) Covacevich all of Biloxi; her daughter, Mari G. (Glenn) Sablich of St. Augustine, FL; her grandchildren, Casey and Patrick Covacevich of Biloxi, Aaron Covacevich of Mobile, AL, Nicholas and Noah Sablich and Sarah (Brandon) McFall all of St. Augustine, FL; her cherished great-granddaughters, Ava Grace and Olivia Marie McFall with her great-grandson arriving in February.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 2:30 pm. Visitation and recitation of the Rosary will be from 1:30 pm until Mass time. A graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 12:30 pm.
