Margaret A. Tingle, 92, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Fairfax Nursing Home in Fairfax, Virginia. Loving mother of Holli Allen and Michael McCormick. Granny to Kari Lear, Jacob McCormick, Jessica McCormick and Kristopher Allen. Great Grandmother to Timothy Allen, Griffin McCormick and Madelyn Lear. Aunt Margaret to her nieces and nephews and Mrs. T to a large number of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Tingle and siblings Ella Marie Sones, Woodrow Anderson, Celia Raby, John Anderson, Lewis Anderson and Bernice Sculthrop.
Margaret was proud to have served many years in the Federal Government. She was the first employee hired to open the John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Mississippi. Margaret conducted community outreach to help them understand the positive impact of the NASA installation. She was so happy to play a part in history and spoke of her experiences often.
Margaret was one of the most generous people around and touched the lives of many with her smile and kind heart. Even after she lost her sight, she was always ready to go shopping or out to lunch with friends. At one particular outing, she realized she forgot her teeth at home – but she had her designer handbag and jewelry!
Services will be held at Bradford- O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport, Mississippi on Thursday, January 20th. Visitation will be at 10am until the time of the funeral at 11am. Interment will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
