Margaret Elizabeth “Betsy” Walker was born in Pensacola, Florida, and died Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in Gulfport, MS. Ms Walker is survived by her husband, Roy Way, of Ocean Springs, and her brother, Woodrow T. Walker, Jr. and his wife, Eileen, niece Bridget, and nephew Sean, all of Santa Barbara, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Captain Woodrow T. Walker, Sr., USN Ret., and his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Young Walker. A resident of Ocean Springs, MS, Ms. Walker practiced law in Biloxi for 31 years. She had previously resided in California, Florida, and Jackson, Mississippi. She was a graduate of the Mississippi College of Law in Jackson, and was admitted the bar in 1980. When she first came to Biloxi she was employed by Mississippi Legal Services in Biloxi. She was an associate of the late Lawrence Semski, then Stanton Fountain, Jr., She then opened her own solo practice in Biloxi. She also often did legal research for the late Will Denton. An open and generous-hearted person, Ms Walker was a staunch Democrat and supported causes that had to do with abuse and neglect. In addition to her family, she is mourned by colleagues in the legal community and numerous friends, including many who are also friends of Bill W. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m., with a service at 8 p.m., at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Mississippi Coast Women’s Center, Biloxi, or Back Bay Mission, Division St., Biloxi.
