Mrs. Margaret Germaine Sablich Lyons, 78, was embraced by the loving arms of Jesus, who takes away all pain and suffering, and welcomed into the Kingdom of God on Wednesday, May 16, 2007.
Germaine was born October 16, 1928 to George and Irma Sablich of Biloxi. She was married to Kenneth Jerome Lyons, Sr. on June 11, 1950 at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Biloxi.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1945 as Salutatorian of her class and later graduated from Mercy Street Hospital Nursing School in Vickburg, MS in 1948.
Germaine worked for two years as a registered nurse for the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Biloxi and then worked as a registered nurse and office manager of Biloxi Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic for 35 years before retiring in 1992.
Germaine was a very loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend and cherished God and her family above all else.
She encouraged, inspired, guided, supported and sacrificed in order to help her children reach for and achieve their goals in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Irma Sablich, two brothers, Vernon "T Boy" Sablich and Harold Sablich, and one son, Patrick Joseph Lyons, Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth Jerome Lyons, Sr., one sister, Delores Barras, three sons, Kenneth Jerome Lyons, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Nashville, TN, Thomas Wayne Lyons and his wife, Debbie of Kennett, MO, and Barry Stephen Lyons and his wife, Marsha of Biloxi, six grandsons, Patrick Jr., Thomas, Kenneth III, Joel, Nathan, and Jeremy, and two granddaughters, Avon and Danielle.
Her family wishes to express their gratitude and thankfulness to the Biloxi Community Living Center and Odyssey Health Care, doctors, nurses, and staff who provided loving care and comfort to her.
Visitation is Friday, May 18, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to Mass. Interment will be at Southern Memorial Park.
