Margaret "Maudie" Halat

Mrs. Margaret "Maudie" Halat, 93, of Biloxi, MS, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, in Biloxi. Mrs. Halat was a native and lifelong resident of Biloxi. She was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral. Mrs. Halat was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Chilly Coon" Halat, and her parents, Lorenc and Jacobina Sekul Skrmetta. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Halat of La Jolla, CA, Joyce Halat of Ocean Springs and Sandra Halat of Biloxi; two sons, Paul Halat of Ocean Springs and Michael Halat of Santa Monica, CA, and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
