Margaret (Peggy) Carroll Loker Cottrell died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the age of 98. Born in New Orleans on November13,1914,and a resident for over 50 years of Gulfport, Mississippi and for the past 17 years of Houston, Texas. Predeceased by her husband,David Cottrell, Jr., a daughter Margaret Carroll, her parents Myra Walmsley Loker and David Cartan Loker,4 sisters and 4 brothers.She is survived by her 2 sons David Cottrell,III, daughter in law Leslie and Albert Peyton Cottrell, daughter in law Sandra and 3 grandchildren, Albert Peyton Cottrell II,Courtney Elise Cottrell, and Carroll Savery Cottrell ,a sister Adele Loker Hughs ,her niece and godchild Kay Gibbons Favrot and many other neices and nephews. Mrs. Cottrell attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, La. and in New Orleans. She was a former member of the Junior League of New Orleans and Houston, Le Petit Salon in New Orleans, and The Revelers in Gulfport, Mississippi. Her late husband was founder and senior partner of Eaton-Cottrell Law Firm in Gulfport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Gulfport, Mississippi at 11:00a.m. on Friday, May 17 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service in Southern Memorial Park Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Peyton Cottrell, Mack Bethea, Harry Hewes, Dr. Thomas Hewes, Percy Kegler, and Joe Salloum. Honorary pallbearers will be William D. Hughes,III ,T.Semmes Hughes,John F. Gibbons,III,C. Barry Ogden, H. Mortimer Favrot, Jr., Dr. A. Clinton Hewes,and Ben Stone.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans or St. John's Catholic Church in Gulfport, Mississippi.
