Margaret Ann Ohm Roberts, 88 of passed away on Saturday, June 15, in Ocean Springs, MS, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Terre Haute, IN, on January 5, 1925. She obtained a degree in teaching from Indiana State University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Southern Mississippi. After settling with her family in Biloxi, MS in 1955, Margaret enjoyed working as a math teacher and guidance counselor at Biloxi High School until her retirement in 1988. She is remembered fondly by generations of students- even those who never liked math.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Maj. Abbie Dewitt Roberts, Jr.; parents, George and Winifred Walsh Ohm; son, Stephen Roberts; and brothers, John Ohm and George Ohm, Jr.
She is survived by six of her children, David (Beth) Roberts of Biloxi, Richard Roberts of Ocean Springs, Michael (Darlene) Roberts of Biloxi, Janet Miller of Ocean Springs, COL Cynthia (Dave) Cambell of San Antonio, TX and Sherry (Horace) Cruthirds of Saucier; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret will be remembered most as a loving mother; grandmother, aunt and friend whose quick wit, love of learning and kindness brought warmth and happiness to many.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, where Margaret will be buried alongside her husband.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
