Margaret Hewes Swanson

Margaret Hewes Swanson, age 95, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 in Chicago Heights, Ill. She was born in Gulfport and had been a resident of Illinois for over 50 years. She was a member of Infant Jesus Prague Parrish. She was a retired school teacher, member of the Retired Teachers Association and Kappa Delta Sorority Alumni. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth Casper, Frances Williams, Cora Otis, and Idie Robinson; three brothers, Fred Hewes, Jr., Charles C. Hewes, and Judge William G. Hewes, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Roy W. Swanson, Sr.; daughter, Susan I. Swanson of Homewood; and a son, Roy Walter Swanson, Jr. (Sherry) of Freeport, FL. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
