One of her grandsons, Corey Havelin, wrote and epitaph that I felt was a true image of her.
Corey wrote: “This morning, one of the strongest and kindest women I will ever have the grace to meet passed away. My grandmother, who has taught me to always look out for those around me and to do what I want no matter what others thought, left this world quite suddenly.
As I stood in that hospital room, my mind kept playing through my life with her and all the times she was there, and all the times she’d lean in and drop some “Buddy logic” on me.
She was the epitome of dynamite in small packages. She lived and loved with a fire only the heavens have seen an equal to. You will be sorely missed, Buddy.
I will always hear your voice when I start second guessing myself yelling me to “chin up, boy” and “let me see that smile” with that glint of mischief in your eyes.
I love you and tell Mom we say hello and to save us a spot at Jesus’ feet. I know ya’ll will be celebrating your reunion for years to come!” Corey Havelin (grandson)
