Maria R. Sablich

Maria R. Sablich, 82, died Wednesday, January 6th at her son’s home in St. Augustine, Florida. Maria had been battling illness since August 2009. Maria was a native and life-long resident of Biloxi. She worked in the Old Biloxi Hospital and with the D’Iberville public school system until her retirement in 1995. She was a founding member of the Biloxi Women’s Club, L’Avenir. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harold Joseph Sablich and her parents, Laurence R. and Ellen Cannette Romeo. Survivors include sons, Harold J. Sablich, Jr., Larry Sablich, both of Biloxi, Glenn J. Sablich of St. Augustine, Florida; her daughter, Nancy Clark of Alexandria, Virginia; her sister, Sylvia R. Stern of Pensacola, Florida and John Romeo of Biloxi; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:00 am at Nativity BVM. Friends may visit from 9:30 am until mass time. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, Biloxi, is in charge of arrangements.
