Marie Knobloch Hayes, age 83, of Gulfport, died Sunday, March 25, 2007 in Gulfport. Mrs. Hayes was born in Yonkers, New York and had been a resident of Gulfport for 48 years. She was a graduate of Packard Business School in New York City. She was retired from the office of Congressman Trent Lott and also from the U. S. Post Office.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she was a member of the church Altar Society. She was a member of the Humane Society of South Mississippi, a past member of the Goodwill Board and the Republican Women.
Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Hayes; her parents, Jules R. and Mary Lee Knobloch; and her brother, William Knobloch.
She is survivied by three daughters, Laura Lambert and husband, Chris, Elise Fayard and husband, David, and Jane Smith and husband, Mark ; two sons, Kurt Hayes and wife, Marsha, and Bill Hayes and wife, Lee; her sister, Betty Smith; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Typical of her generosity, she donated her body for medical research.
There will be a Memorial Mass on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Gulfport where friends may visit from 5 p.m. until the service.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Humane Society of South Mississippi, 2615 25th Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501.
