Marie Louise McMath Stevenson, age 79, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2008, in Biloxi. Louise was born on October 10, 1929 and was a life long resident of Biloxi. During her life, she was employed at The Moore Community House, Southern Shell Canning and Del Seaway, Inc. She enjoyed bingo, cooking, family gatherings, dancing to Cajun music and attending the Festivals Acadiens in Lafayette, Louisianna every year. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was strong in her Catholic faith and was blessed to have been able to participate in a mission trip to Saltillo, Mexico. Louise was preceded in death by her soul mate and husband of 57 years, Alvin D. "Doug" Stevenson, Sr., a grandson, John R. "Little John" St. Amant, Jr., two great grandsons, Dylan Corey and Collin Fayard, her parents, John and Marie McMath, her sister, Lou Ella Arguelles, three brothers, Dennis Landry, Sr., Joe McMath, and James McMath, two nephews, David W. Arguelles and Dennis Landry, Jr. (who preceded her in death by one day), a great nephew, Danny Arguelles and a loving son-in-law, James M. "Jimmie" Fayard, Sr. Survivors include her children, Alvin D. Stevenson, Jr. of Biloxi, Leona Benfield, Sharon (Gary) Fayard, of Gulfport, Mary Ann (Michael) Kisner, Lou Anna (John) St. Amant, Julie Stevenson, of Biloxi, Melanie (David) Hutchens, of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Johnnie Lynn Fayard, of St. Martin, her brother, Lloyd "Frenchie" Landry of St. Martin, her grandchildren, Gary (Hope) Fayard, Ann (Jeff) Beeker, Melissa (Bob) McLean, Mike (Alicia) Benfield, John Fayard, Janet Fayard, Michelle (James) Moore, Shana (Anthony) Strong, Nick Thibodeaux, Joel Stevenson, Ashton Thibodeaux, Lauren Quave, Heather Hutchens, Chris Fayard, Josh Fayard, her great-grandchildren, Trace, Maddy, Bailey, Jordan, Hayden, Alissa, Maddox, Evan, Sebastien, Landon, J.B. and Shelby, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D'Iberville at 12:00 p.m. where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and doctors in the C.C.U. at Biloxi Regional Hospital and especially to Dr. Fellows, Dr. Martin, Dr. Hebert and also to Father Tony Arguelles, Father Bob Higginbotham, Father Dennis Harlow and Father Patrick MacDermott, whose visits to bring her Holy Communion kept her strong in her faith.
