Marion James Carmichael, known by many as Jim, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the age of 78.
Born in Pratt, Kansas on February 27, 1945, Marion was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having enlisted in 1968 to join the fight in Vietnam. Following his time in the service, he spent the majority of his life as a truck driver. Eventually, he settled in D’Iberville, Mississippi, where he lived amongst his friends at VFW Post 6731.
Marion was an avid lover of photography, reading, and collecting. He was known to those close to him as an intelligent, bold and caring man. There is no doubt that he will be missed dearly.
Marion is preceded in death by his mother, Viola, his siblings, and his son, Richard Carmichael.
He is survived by his oldest son, William Carmichael; his grandchildren, Devan, Alexis and Torrey Carmichael, and Dakota and Daniel Fayard; and his great-grandchildren, Remington and Iris Carmichael.
A Graveside Service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 2:30pm. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6731, in D’Iberville, Mississippi.
