Mr. Marion “M.E.” Thompson, Jr. died peacefully on September 30, 2018, in Grapevine, Texas, at the age of 87. Mr. Thompson is survived by children Pamela Cumbest and Delia “Dee Dee” Thompson; grandsons Grant Cumbest and Reid Cumbest; sisters Ruth Turner and Linda Leps.
He is preceded in death by parents Marion Edwin Thompson, Sr. and Artemisa Gonzalez Thompson; sons Marion Edwin Thompson, III and Michael Steven Thompson; siblings Joe Banks Thompson, Eddye Lilley, Clara Gradick, Ramon Thompson, Sr. and Robert Thompson, Sr.
Mr. Thompson was born on November 8, 1930, in Tuscaloosa, AL. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, MS, and from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS, with a degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Thompson retired as Chief Civil Engineer at Keesler Air Force Base and opened his own business as a Consulting Engineer, Real Estate Broker/Appraiser and a Mississippi Registered Land Surveyor. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean War. Mr. Thompson loved continuing education, he was an avid walker and enjoyed going to the casinos. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
A visitation is scheduled from 12-1pm, Tuesday, October 9th at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS 39531. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi, MS 39531 at 1:30pm.
