Mrs. Marjorie Donovan Lopez, 99, of Ocean Springs, MS, died peacefully Sunday, January 10, 2010, In Gulfport. Mrs. Lopez was born November 4, 1910 in Shreveport, LA. She will be remembered by her extended family with love and laughter as an avid gardener and music lover as well as resident philosoper, advisor, family historian and mentor. Mrs. Lopez was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Donovan and Kathryn Canale Donovan; husband, Laz J. Lopez, Sr; daughter, Marjorie Lopez Alexander; son, Laz J. Lopez, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Donovan and Kathryn Donovan Quillen; brother, Richard F. Donovan; grandson, Joseph Lopez; granddaughter, Dawn Lopez Moore; and her son-in-law, Buris Premeaux, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Lopez Premeaux; son-in-law, Dr. James E. Alexander; daughter-in-law, Charlene Barnes Lopez; and grandchildren, James E. Alexander, Jr., Joseph R. Alexander, Melissa Alexander Stanfield, Richard D. Alexander, Joan Alexander Strayham, Melanie Alexander Randolph, Andrew S. Alexander, Lynn Alexander Miller, Maria Alexander Baumann, Elizabeth Alexander Small, June Lopez Woods, Karen Lopez Thompson, Laz J. Lopez, III, Jack F. Lopez, Mary Premeaux Saucier, John D. Premeaux, Sherry Premeaux Deshamp, Roberta Barnes Wilson, Charles Barnes, Jr., Robert Barnes, Jane Barnes Clay, and Stephen Barnes. In addition, Mrs. Lopez is survived by over eighty great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank especially her beloved friend, Father Denis Harlow, who laughed and sympathized with her through many joys and sorrows in her life. The family also wishes to thank the aides and nurses of Azalea Gardens Nursing Center in Wiggins, MS, for their loving care and devotion, the staff of the Stone County Hospital for their care and compassion, and Canon Hospice for their care and concern. In Lieu of flowers, Mrs. Lopez would like to be remembered with offerings to the Retired Priests Building Fund, c/o Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 2090 Pass Rd., Biloxi, MS 39531, or St. Vincent de Paul Society Pharmacy, 715 Division St., Biloxi, MS 39530. Visitation is Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. A Mass of Christian Burial is 12 noon Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery.
