Marjorie L. Gill, a long time resident of Biloxi, died Friday, May 20, 2011, in Union, Mississippi, after a long illness. She was born Marjorie Elaine Luhman to Paul Roland Luhman and Lorraine Helen Menge on September 19, 1925 in Crookston, Minnesota. Mrs. Gill is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Lorraine, her husband Charles and one brother Francis Paul Luhman. She is survived in death by three sisters: Elizabeth Smith, Carol Richards, and Ruth Lewis and one brother John Donald Luhman, her three children Margaret Chatham, Susan McMahen, and Julie Gibert, and six grand children Shannon Jones, Margaret Wilder, Bill Bailey, Grace McMahen, Alexandra Gibert and Nicholas Gibert and two great grandchildren Chris Wilder, Jr and Kori Wilder. Mrs. Gill will be missed by her family and friends. After graduating from Mahnomen High school in 1943 as Valedictorian, she took a job with the DuPont Company. That job moved her to Pasco, Washington and she found herself working on what turned out to be a part of the Manhattan Project. She met and married Charles A. Gill in Pasco, Washington. After the war, she moved with her husband Charles to Biloxi and remained here until Hurricane Katrina. After Katrina, she moved to Union, MS. In 1981, Mrs. Gill retired from Keesler Air Force Base’s Accounting and Finance Department after many years of faithful service to go to work for the newly organized Archdiocese of Biloxi. She retired from the Diocese in 2003 after 22 years of service. Pallbearers will be: Art Jones, Bill Bailey, Chris Wilder, Chris Wilder, Jr., Gerard Gibert and Nicholas Gibert. Visitation is Monday, May 23, 2011, from 5 until 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p. m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
