Marlin "Red" Carr

Mr. Marlin "Red" Carr, 82, of Gulfport, MS, joined our Father in Heaven on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Marlin was born in Blue Mountain, Tippah County, Mississippi on March 20, 1927. Marlin married his wife, Ruby Gay Burns, of Burns, Mississippi, in 1947 and soon after moved to the coast to raise a family. Marlin worked for the City of Gulfport for over 30 years and retired from the position of Superintendent of Streets and Drainage. After retirement Marlin was able to enjoy his hobbies of raising cattle and gardening. Marlin was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Doll and Sudie Carr of Ripley, MS; sisters, Ilene Carr, Roberta Mitchell Amason; and brothers, W. C. Carr, Burl Carr, Earl Carr and Bobby Eugene Carr. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Burns Carr; daughter, Alice Carr Everman, and her husband, Tyrone Everman; three sons, James Marlin "Sonny" Carr and his wife, Deborah Carr, Charles David Carr, and Nelson Wayne Carr and his wife, Vicky Carol Carr, all of Gulfport. Marlin loved his grandchildren and they will miss him greatly; Charlie Carr, Tyrone Scott Everman, Tracy Everman Sellers, Tonya Carr Hurst, Shiloh Carr Carter, Joey Carr, Tasha Carr Taylor, David Nelson Carr, Katherine Elizabeth Carr and Rebecca Allison Carr; great grandchildren, Gabrielle Sellers, Meagan Everman, Brianna Sellers, Drew Hurst, Chloe Carter, Allie Hurst and Molly Carter. Marlin is also survived by his brother, Jimmy George Carr and his wife, Inge, of Murfreesboro, TN. Visitation is Tuesday, December 8, 2009, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, in Gulfport. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel . Interment will follow in Finley Cemetery.
