Martha Wethered Snyder

Martha Wethered Snyder, of Ocean Springs, MS, died unexpectedly of natural causes, January 11, 2017. She was 77 years old. Martha was born in Webster Springs, West Virginia. Martha married her school sweetheart Darrell and gave birth to her son, Darrell W. on Lockbourne AFB in Columbus, Ohio. She was the perfect military spouse and traveled the world, being stationed in Germany, Hawaii, and Florida before settling in Ocean Springs, MS, when her husband was transferred to Keesler Air Force Base. She has been resident of Ocean Springs for over 40 years. A devoted wife, loving mother, and incredible grandmother, her family will remember her as a kind, honest, and humorous person. Martha was a good neighbor and if you had a seat at her dinner table, she made sure you were well fed. She was a loving and doting grandmother who was patient, encouraging, and always went above and beyond for her only grandchild. She loved lipstick, perfume, soap operas, shopping, and her many pets. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, William P. and Wanetta Wethered of Back Fork, Webster Springs, West Virginia. Martha is survived by her husband, Darrell Gene Snyder; her son, Darrell William Snyder; her granddaughter, Danielle Snyder Steenkamp (Johan) of Azel, Tx; and two sisters, Perry Ann (John) Samuel of Morgantown, WV and Susan (Joey) Minnich of Summersville, WV. At Martha's request, no formal services will be held. Her ashes, along with those of her beloved heart dog MeMe, will be spread to rest alongside her family in West Virginia. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to an Animal Shelter or Animal Rescue group of your choice.
