Martha Stuart Stone

Martha Stuart Stone, Age 68, of Gulfport, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Gulfport. She was born in Gulfport and was a resident of the Coast for most of her life. She was an Episcopalian and a member of Daughters of the King She was a nurse for several years, graduating from nursing school at Pearl River Junior College. Martha was a member of the Eastern Star and was very active with crafts (stained glass and ceramics). Martha endured a very sickly life, but refused to let it consume her, and her will to endure and overcome touched all who knew her. She faced all her adversities and tribulations with a never give-up spirit, a forgiving attitude and always with a friendly smile which was an inspiration not only to her family but to all that knew her. She was truly a guiding light and guardian angel to her family and close friends and was viewed by all as a caring and loving southern lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. R.E.L. "Tab" Stuart, Sr. and Lucy Simmons Stuart; and a brother Dr. R.E. L. "Red" Stuart, Jr. She is survived by her husband, of 48 years, William Todd Stone of Gulfport; two sons, Robert Todd Stone and his wife, Beatrix "Trixi" of Merritt Island, FL and William Edward "Billy" Stone of Gulfport; a sister, Mary Jo Amos of NC; a granddaughter, Selina Carter; nieces, Lyn Amos, Dianne Hicks, Sandy Miller; nephews, Bill Amos, Paul Amos, Jerome Stuart, and Lee Stuart. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the service.
