Martin J. Coakley, 86, of Port Orange, FL died on Friday, February 20, 2009 in Ocean Springs, MS. Mr. Coakley was a resident of Port Orange, FL and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge in Kriegsheim, France on Dec. 2, 1944 where he was wounded and later received a Purple Heart. He was a supporter of the Arts in Daytona Beach, FL. He was retired from General Electric. He is survived by his nephew, Patrick (Katrina) Ryan of Gautier, MS and their children, Megan (Michael) Jarrell of Gulfport, MS, Siobhan Fowler of Ocean Springs, MS, Sean Ryan of Hattiesburg, MS and Clifford (Brandi) Ryan of Daytona Beach, FL; three great-great nieces and four great-great nephews. Services will be held Monday, February 23, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 1:30 pm, Rosary at 12:45 pm. Friends may visit one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to: Nativity BVM Catholic School Library Fund, 1046 Beach Blvd., Biloxi, MS 39530.
