Marvin Allen Lanier, age, 79, of Gulfport, died Monday, January 14, 2008 in Biloxi. He had been a resident of Gulfport since 1970 and was a former resident of Macon, MS. He was of the Methodist faith. He was retired from the construction business and had served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Jeff Lanier; and two brothers, William "Billy" Lanier and James Lanier.
Mr. Lanier is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Boswell Lanier of Gulfport; two children, Wayne (Barbara) Lanier of Virginia Beach, VA and Mark (Ann) Lanier of Gulfport; four grandchildren, Beth (Derrel) Wilson, Brad Lanier, Dennis (Trish) Caspelich, and Joyce (John) Haidgin; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Evelyn Sciple of Gulfport; and a brother, Leonard Lanier of Lucedale.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi.
