Mr. Marvin "Buddy" Vaughn, Jr, age 79, of Vancleave, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.
Mr. Vaughn was born on January 9, 1938, and was a lifelong resident of the coast. He retired from Litton Shipyard as a project planner and was a member of First Baptist Church of Vancleave.
Buddy was a private pilot and loved anything to do with flying. He was also an artist, painting portraits and landscapes. He could build just about anything, and did. His family meant so much to him, and he enjoyed bragging on his grand and great-grand children. His church family and Sunday school was an important part of his life and he loved them. But above all, he loved the Lord God. He shared his belief in Jesus with everyone, and didn't hesitate to invite those without a church to go to church with him. We know he is Home with God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Ernest Vaughn, Sr and Magarite Sims Kiefer, son, Jonathan Bruce Vaughn and brother, Donald Peterson.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Russell, son, Johnny Mark (Teresa) Vaughn, two sisters, Barbara Moon and Janna Carron, grandchildren, Jonathan Russell, Marilena Vaughn Simmons, Lisa Vaughn, Joshua Russell, Eva Russell, Adam Vaughn, Eli Vaughn, Michelle Vaughn, Justin Vaughn, three great-grandchildren, uncle, Mac (Opal) Vaughn and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 3, from 6pm until 9pm, at First Baptist Church of Vancleave. On Friday, August 4, Mr. Vaughn will lie in state at the church from 10am until 11am, with an 11am service, officiated by Reverend Don Boone. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Vancleave.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Vancleave Building Fund.
The Vancleave Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
