Marvine "Bobbye" Holland

Marvine (Bobbye) Holland, 82, of Biloxi passed away March 5, 2009 at Ocean Springs Nursing Home. Her husband and love of her life for 62 years, J. Baltar Holland, was at her side when she succumbed to Alzheimer’s Disease. Bobbye was born November 28, 1926 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. After finishing high school, Bobbye moved to Biloxi with her aunt and sister and took jobs at Keesler Air Force Base during World War II – it was in Biloxi that she met Baltar. They were married on January 19, 1947, and after finishing studies at Mississippi State University, they returned to Biloxi and raised their family. Bobbye was a loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Bobbye devoted her life to her family, and was active socially at the Biloxi Yacht Club, the Dogwood Garden Club of Biloxi, and was Queen of Mithras Carnival Ball in 1976 and a member of Les Masque Carnival Association for many years. In addition to her husband, J. Baltar, she is survived by her son, Jack and daughter-in-law, Roxanne of Huntington Beach, California; daughter, Debra Holland Turner of Biloxi; daughter Theresa and son-in-law Joe Crabb of Lake Mary, Florida. Nine Grandchildren, Kirsta Holland Johnson, Jason Holland, Lindsey Turner Green, Michael Turner, Robert Holland, Chelsea Holland, Stephen Crabb, Katie Crabb, David Crabb. Four great-grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Madison Johnson, and Reese Green. A brother, Billy Kirby of Canton, Mississippi, and predeceased by two brothers, Finas Kirby, Coy Kirby, and sister, Imogene Kirby Farnsworth, and great-grandson, Eric Johnson. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Nativity BVM Catholic Church on Howard Avenue in Biloxi with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Southern Memorial Park, Biloxi. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to: Nativity BVM Cathedral, 870 Howard Avenue , Biloxi, MS 39530. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, Howard Ave., Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
