Mrs. Mary Alice Simpson Blackwell, age 81, of Kentwood, LA, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, in Moss Point, MS.
Mrs. Blackwell was born on October 24, 1931 and was a longtime resident of Kentwood, LA. She was in the Health Care profession for 42 years and worked at Pike Faller Clinic in Kentwood. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Kentwood.
Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Simpson and Bertha Caston Simpson, a sister, Reba Simpson and two brothers, Earl Simpson and Jewel Simpson.
Survivors include her husband, John A. Blackwell of Kentwood, LA, two daughters, Marty Blackwell and husband, Chaney Phillips, of Ponchatoula, LA and Carolyn Boyd and husband, Jan, of Moss Point, MS, son, Ray Blackwell and wife, Beverly, of Kentwood, LA, three sisters, Geneva Varnado and Bertie Hughes, both of Osyka, MS and Dell Gore of Denham Springs, LA, two brothers, Burnell Simpson and Bobby Ray Simpson, both of Kentwood, LA, her eldest granddaughter and special caretaker, Misty Hilbun Brown of Denham Springs, LA and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 9 am until 11 am, with an 11 am Memorial Service, all at the First Baptist Church of Kentwood. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Kentwood.
