Mary Elizabeth Bourg

Mary Elizabeth Bourg, 88, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was born in Hattiesburg, MS on February 24, 1935 to Willie and Charlotte Jackson.

Mary lived on the Gulf Coast since 1958 and was longtime resident of Gulf Hills. She was employed at Ferson Optics for over 40 years. Mary took her work seriously and always acted very professional. She said it was her responsibility to do what was honorable and fair to her fellow employees. She considered it her obligation to think of the company’s well-being. She was always honest and would speak her mind, she seemed to have value. Mary started working at the age of 13 and always found it rewarding and not a burden.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lottie Jackson; husband, John R. Bourg Jr.; and son, John Raymond Bourg III.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Tommy) Conner; grandchildren, Jennifer Coursey, Nicholas Conner, Brian Bladon Conner, and Carrie Brooke Conner; and 3 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date.
