Mary Alice Blessey Bradley was born in New Orleans on June 6, 1916, and when she was five years old moved to Biloxi with her grandmother and brothers, Walter and Earl. Mary Alice lived the rest of her life in Biloxi and died on Saint Patrick’s Day at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donald O. Bradley; her mother, Inez Regina Byrne Blessey and father, Walter J. Blessey, Jr.; her brothers, Walter J. Blessey III, Earl Byrne Blessey and Norman Blessey; and her sister, Ann Blessey Gernhauser.
She is survived by her six children, Alice Inez Bawcum, Donald O. Bradley, Jr., Errol and Mary Bradley, George and Tana Bradley, Mickey and Susan Bradley, and Manny and Barbra Bradley; twenty grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; her sisters and brothers, Jane Blessey Arrington, Rosanna Blessey Martin, Joan Blessey Anseman, Emanuel Blessey, and William Blessey.
Mary Alice and Donald were high school sweethearts and were graduates of the Biloxi High School class of 1935. For over forty years they owned and operated Bradley’s Toggery, a men’s clothing store on Howard Avenue in downtown Biloxi.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society or a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with a saying of the Rosary at 7:30 pm, at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Nativity Cathedral with visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at Noon and graveside service will follow the mass at the Veterans Administration Biloxi National Cemetery.
