Mary Virginia "Ginny" Brumbelow

Mary Virginia “Ginny” Brumbelow, age 77, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023.

Ginny, better known as MopMop, was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on March 10, 1946. After spending her childhood and some of her adult life in Natchez, she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1976. She returned to Natchez for a short time before permanently moving back to the Gulf Coast in 1997.

MopMop loved her grandchildren, and no matter what they were doing, she was always there to support them. She went to soccer games, baseball games, football games, basketball games, volleyball games, and school plays. Not a day went by where she didn’t call or visit. She and PopPop tried their hardest not to miss one second of their grandkids’ lives. From beginning to end, they were always there.

MopMop is preceded in death by her husband, George T. Brumbelow (“PopPop”); her previous husband, Robert “Blackie” Herring; her mother, Katie Rushing; her father, Julio Nevels; her sister, Yvonne Campbell; and her brothers, James “Red” Nevels, Wade Wheat, and Michael Wheat. 

She is survived by her four children, Kimberly Gill, Dedra Migues (Shawn), Kathryn Noblitt (Monty), and Denton Herring (Linda); her ten grandchildren, Tyler Gill, Trent Gill, Katie Gill, Cooper Ann Wedgeworth, Victoria Migues, Monty “Deuce” Noblitt, Maddox Noblitt, Molly Noblitt, Logan Herring, and Walker Herring; her brothers, Johnny “Bud” Nevels, Lloyd Nevels, and Larry Wheat; and her sister, Elaine Davis. 

Services will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, on Monday, May 22, 2023. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00, with the service beginning at 11:00. Interment will be at 12:30 at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
