Mary Susan Burke, born March 5, 1943 in Norwich, CT., passed peacefully in her sleep Monday evening January 18, 2021 in Orange Park, Florida. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an Elvis enthusiast and a professional at crocheting. She raised her family along the Mississippi Gulf Coast but later in life became a resident of Quincy, Illinois. One of Mary’s greatest joys was loving and taking care of her grand-daughter Brittany Smith. Together they spent countless hours serving their community at Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Panty in Quincy.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Friend & Mary Church, her loving husband, Phillip Nelson Burke, Sr., and her daughter Tina Marie Havard. She is survived by her brother Friend Roger Church of New York City, NY, a sister Helen Jeannotte of Lisban, CT and 11 children, Elizabeth Avey of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Edward Fedler, Jr. of California, Howard (Toni) Fedler of Semmes, Alabama, Fredrick Fedler of Fairhope, Alabama, Florence (Mitchell) Motes of Vancleave, Mississippi, Christine Killian of Summerdale, Alabama, Walter (Aimee) Fedler of Hurley, Mississippi, Aime (Melissa) Fedler of Moniac, Georgia, Jonathon (Ashlea) Fedler of Atchison, Kansas, Stacy (Mike) West of Middleburg, Florida, and Mark (Jenny) Fedler of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; as well as 40 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. Due to current restrictions, the family ask that cards of condolences and flowers to be sent to 215 Lakefront Circle, Summerdale, AL 36580 or you may make a monetary donation in Mary’s name to Anchor Point Church in Foley, Alabama. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Frank Griffith of Victory Life Church, Foley, Alabama.
