Mary Elizabeth Barrett Blevins, age 80, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008 in Gulfport. Mary was born October 20, 1927 in Keyrock, West Virginia to Cora Privette and Greenvil Barrett. She married James Blevins in Lebanon, Illinois on June 12, 1950. After graduating from Pineville High School, Pineville, WV in 1944, Mary began her career with the Civil Service by working for the FBI in Washington, D.C. during WWII. Accompanying her husband, CMSgt James Blevins, (USAF Retired) on assignments around the world, Mary held various secretarial positions until her retirement in June 1979 from Keesler Medical Center, She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Greenvil Barrett and her younger brothers, Jack and Nicky Barrett. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Blevins of Gulfport; two sons, Colonel Robert Blevins and his wife, Bronwyn, of Belgium and Richard Blevins and his wife, Toni of Vermont; her two daughters, Karen Vermillion and her husband, Jack, of Ocean Springs and Michele Warner of Gulfport; seven loving grandchildren, Jack Vermillion, III, Joshua Blevins, Jason Blevins, Brianna Warner, Ashley Blevins, Richard J. Blevins, and Sean Blevins. Also surviving are a brother, Johnnie Barrett and his wife, Sue of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She loved working in her garden and was very active in geneology. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mishra, Dr. Bowles, and the staff of Memorial Hospital for their compassionate and loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to one's favorite charity. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 10 until 11:00 a.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. The graveside service will be on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com
